    • The “Functions of Adjectives” lesson introduces students to the key roles that adjectives play in English grammar. Students will explore how adjectives describe, limit, and modify nouns and pronouns, and how they function within different sentence structures. The lesson covers various types of adjectives—descriptive, demonstrative, quantitative, interrogative, and possessive—and illustrates how each contributes meaning and clarity to communication. Through guided instruction, examples, and interactive practice, learners will strengthen their grammar and writing skills by using adjectives more purposefully and effective.

    • By the end of the lesson the student should be able to;

      1. Identify different types of adjectives.

      2. Use adjectives appropriately in sentences

      3. Construct sentences using adjectives.

    • his short pre-quiz is designed to assess students’ initial understanding of how adjectives function in sentences. Students will identify the role of the adjective in each sentence—such as describing qualities, materials, size, or nationality. The quiz helps establish a baseline for learning and informs instruction by highlighting areas that may need reinforcement before engaging with the main lesson content.

    • This activity allows students to apply their understanding of the various functions of adjectives by analyzing how adjectives are used in different sentence contexts. Students will identify whether adjectives describe qualities, make comparisons, show origin, or indicate age or material. The task reinforces their ability to recognize the grammatical role adjectives play and supports the development of more precise and effective descriptive language in writing and speaking.

    • This module practice helps students strengthen their ability to identify the specific functions of adjectives within sentences. By analyzing how bolded adjectives are used—whether to show origin, express emotions, describe quality or size—students gain a deeper understanding of how adjectives enhance meaning in communication. This activity supports accurate and purposeful use of adjectives in both written and spoken English.

    • This self-assessment gives students the opportunity to reflect on their understanding and use of adjectives, particularly their ability to identify the functions adjectives serve and apply them accurately in sentences. The responses help both the learner and teacher gauge confidence levels and identify areas that may require additional support or practice. This reflective tool promotes metacognition and guides personalized learning within the module.
