Week 01 – Day 1: Story Reading & Comprehension

This lesson focuses on helping students develop their listening and comprehension skills through engaging story reading. Students will actively listen to a fictional narrative, identify key story elements—including characters, setting, main events, and the story’s message—and participate in thoughtful discussion. 

Aligned with Massachusetts English Language Arts Standard SL.5.1, this session encourages students to listen carefully, think critically, and respond with clarity and creativity. Through guided questions, quizzes, and a take-home activity, students will build confidence in understanding and retelling stories while strengthening their speaking and listening abilities.
