Week 06 – Day 1: Summarizing Nonfiction – Rosa Parks’ Story

In this lesson, students will practice summarizing nonfiction texts by focusing on the main idea and key supporting details. Using an excerpt adapted from "Rosa Parks: My Story," students will identify the central message of the passage, distinguish important facts from extra information, and organize their summaries clearly.
Students will build critical reading skills while learning about a key historical figure who stood up for justice. Activities include reading, graphic organizer work, quiz assessments, and summary writing practice.
